I know I said I would try to have a new update/blog post every week... as you can tell, that has not really been happening... but all with good reason.
The station has been keeping me busy, both by choice and there's just that much to do. Been putting in roughly 11 to 12 hour days. Which helps to calm that home sick feeling... which sucks! I was doing good for the first two weeks and then last weekend it all started to hit.
This is my first move from my hometown, my family, my friends, etc. I left alot back in Y-town... As for me down here... wow, busy... busy... and busy!
This past weekend was Sand Jam 2008. It takes place every year on the base in Jacksonville - which I am starting to really like that town! Will be there next weekend as an old High School friend, Tim, will be making the trip from Florida. Tim was enlisted and stationed in J-ville... so it's like a homecoming of sorts for him and will allow me to finally get out and around town. As I said, working 12 hour days keeps you from going out.
Back to the Sand Jam - 12+ hours in the sun and I didn't get burned!!! It's amazing when you use sunscreen - you don't get burned, much like I didn't do my first weekend here. The event, itself, was amazing and a load of fun. I got to meet alot of Rock105 listeners! After the show it was back home for a quick shower and down to Hooligans for the afterparty with Vayden and Pop Evil. Some of the pictures are posted on MySpace.
Other than that... searching through the music on the station and finding what fits best... more to come on that...
BIG THANK YOU to everyone back home that has been listening online and even calling the toll-free request line to chat while I am on the air. It helps with the home sickness.
I'll try not to go 2 weeks without posting an update.
